Dodewaard Nuclear Power Plant
The Dodewaard Nuclear Power Plant is a decommissioned nuclear power facility located in the Netherlands. It began operations in 1969 and was the first commercial nuclear power plant in the country. The plant used a boiling water reactor to generate electricity and had a capacity of 60 megawatts.
In 1997, the Dodewaard Nuclear Power Plant was officially shut down after 28 years of operation. Following its closure, the plant underwent a decommissioning process, which involves safely dismantling the facility and managing radioactive waste. Today, the site is monitored and maintained as part of the decommissioning efforts.
