Divya Prabandham
Divya Prabandham is a collection of Tamil devotional hymns composed by various saints known as the Alvars between the 6th and 9th centuries. It consists of 4,000 verses that express deep devotion to the Hindu god Vishnu and his avatars. The hymns are significant in the Vaishnavism tradition and are often recited in temples and during religious ceremonies.
The Divya Prabandham is divided into 11 books, each containing poems that reflect the saints' personal experiences and spiritual insights. These verses not only highlight the importance of devotion but also emphasize the significance of surrendering to God. The collection is revered as a key text in Tamil literature and spiritual practice.
