District Attorneys
A District Attorney (DA) is a public official responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the government in a specific geographic area, known as a district. They represent the state in court and make decisions about whether to file charges against individuals accused of crimes. DAs work closely with law enforcement agencies to gather evidence and build cases.
In addition to prosecuting cases, District Attorneys also play a role in plea negotiations, where they may offer reduced sentences in exchange for guilty pleas. They are essential in ensuring justice is served while balancing the rights of the accused and the needs of the community.
