Direct Transmission
Direct transmission refers to the immediate transfer of infectious agents from one person to another without any intermediary. This can occur through physical contact, such as touching, kissing, or sexual activity, where pathogens like bacteria or viruses are passed directly from an infected individual to a healthy one.
Another common form of direct transmission is through respiratory droplets. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, tiny droplets containing pathogens can be inhaled by someone nearby, leading to the spread of illnesses like the flu or COVID-19. Understanding direct transmission is crucial for implementing effective public health measures.
