Direct Free Kicks
A direct free kick is awarded in soccer when a foul occurs, such as a handball or a trip, committed by a player. The kick is taken from the spot of the foul, and the player can shoot directly at the goal without needing to pass to a teammate first.
The opposing team must stand at least 10 yards away from the ball until it is kicked. If the kick results in a goal, it counts as a score. Direct free kicks are an important part of the game, providing opportunities to score from set pieces.
