Direct Attached Storage
Direct Attached Storage (DAS) refers to a digital storage device that is directly connected to a computer or server without a network in between. Common examples include external hard drives and internal hard drives installed within a computer. DAS is typically used for personal data storage, backups, and file sharing among local devices.
DAS offers high-speed access to data since it connects directly to the host system. However, it lacks the scalability and remote access features of networked storage solutions like Network Attached Storage (NAS) or Storage Area Networks (SAN). This makes DAS ideal for individual users or small businesses with straightforward storage needs.
