Diplomatic Security Service
The Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) is a branch of the U.S. Department of State responsible for protecting diplomats and ensuring the safety of U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. Established in 1916, the DSS provides security for high-level officials, manages security programs, and conducts investigations related to threats against U.S. personnel abroad.
In addition to protective services, the DSS also focuses on counterterrorism and crime prevention. They work closely with other law enforcement agencies and international partners to address security challenges, ensuring that U.S. diplomatic missions can operate effectively and safely in various regions around the globe.
