Dillon Dam
Dillon Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the Blue River in Summit County, Colorado. Completed in 1963, it was built to provide water storage for the Colorado-Big Thompson Project and to help manage water flow for irrigation and municipal use. The dam creates Dillon Reservoir, which serves as a recreational area for boating, fishing, and hiking.
The dam stands 140 feet tall and stretches 1,600 feet across. It has a total storage capacity of approximately 257,000 acre-feet of water. The reservoir not only supports local ecosystems but also plays a crucial role in flood control and water supply for surrounding communities.
