Dikir Barat
Dikir Barat is a traditional Malay performing art that combines singing, music, and rhythmic clapping. Originating from Malaysia, it is typically performed by a group of singers, known as the Dikir Barat troupe, who sit in a semi-circle. The performance features a lead singer, or Tok Juara, who leads the group in singing verses that often convey messages of love, social issues, or cultural heritage.
The music is accompanied by traditional instruments such as the gamelan and rebana, creating a lively atmosphere. Dikir Barat is often performed during cultural festivals, weddings, and community events, serving as a way to promote unity and celebrate Malay culture.
