DigiCash
DigiCash is a form of digital currency that allows users to make secure and anonymous transactions over the internet. It was one of the first attempts to create a decentralized electronic cash system, enabling users to send money directly to one another without the need for intermediaries like banks.
Founded in the 1990s by David Chaum, DigiCash utilized cryptographic techniques to ensure privacy and security. Although it gained some popularity, it ultimately struggled to achieve widespread adoption and ceased operations in the late 1990s. Its concepts, however, laid the groundwork for later digital currencies.
