Die Zauberflöte
"Die Zauberflöte," or "The Magic Flute," is an opera composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. Premiering in 1791, it is a Singspiel, which includes both singing and spoken dialogue. The story follows Tamino, a young prince, who embarks on a quest to rescue Pamina, the daughter of Queen of the Night, while navigating trials set by the wise Sarastro.
The opera is known for its rich symbolism and themes of enlightenment, love, and the struggle between good and evil. It features famous arias, including Pamina's "Ach, ich fühl's" and the Queen of the Night's powerful "Der Hölle Rache." "Die Zauberflöte" remains one of the most performed operas worldwide.
