Diacritics in Latin Script
Diacritics in Latin script are special marks added to letters to modify their pronunciation or meaning. Common diacritics include the acute accent (´), grave accent (`), circumflex (^), and tilde (~). These marks help distinguish between words that would otherwise be spelled the same, such as café and cafe.
Different languages use diacritics in various ways. For example, in French, the cedilla (¸) is used under the letter c to indicate a soft pronunciation, as in façade. In Spanish, the tilde is used over the letter n to create the letter ñ, which represents a distinct sound.
