Dhumavati
Dhumavati is one of the ten Mahavidyas in Hinduism, representing the goddess of widowhood and the darker aspects of life. She is often depicted as an old woman, symbolizing the inevitability of death and the transient nature of life. Dhumavati is associated with the qualities of detachment, loss, and the acceptance of impermanence.
In iconography, Dhumavati is usually shown riding a chariot pulled by crows, holding a winnowing basket and a broom. Her worship is believed to help devotees confront their fears and overcome obstacles, leading to spiritual growth. She embodies the idea that through understanding suffering, one can attain wisdom and liberation.
