Derby Canal
The Derby Canal is a historic waterway located in Derbyshire, England. It was originally constructed in the early 18th century to facilitate the transport of goods, particularly coal and limestone, from the surrounding areas to the city of Derby. The canal stretches approximately 13 miles, connecting the River Derwent to the Trent and Mersey Canal.
Although the canal fell into disuse by the mid-20th century, efforts have been made to restore sections of it for recreational use. Today, the Derby Canal is popular for walking, cycling, and boating, offering scenic views and a glimpse into the region's industrial past.
