Departments of Uruguay
Uruguay is divided into 19 administrative divisions known as departments. Each department has its own local government and is responsible for various administrative functions. The capital city, Montevideo, is also a department and serves as the country's political and economic center.
The departments vary in size and population, with Canelones and Maldonado being among the most populated. Each department has unique characteristics, including geography, culture, and economy, contributing to the overall diversity of Uruguay.
