Denis of Paris
Denis of Paris, also known as Saint Denis, is a significant figure in Christian history and the patron saint of France. He is believed to have been a 3rd-century missionary who became the first bishop of Paris. Denis is often depicted holding his own head, a reference to his martyrdom, as he was reportedly beheaded for his faith.
His shrine is located at the Basilica of Saint-Denis, a historic church in the northern suburbs of Paris. This basilica is notable for being the burial site of many French kings and queens, making it an important symbol of French heritage and history.
