Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a severe form of dengue fever, a viral illness transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. It is characterized by high fever, bleeding, and low platelet counts. DHF can lead to serious complications, including shock and organ failure, particularly in children and individuals with previous dengue infections.
The disease is caused by one of the four serotypes of the dengue virus. Diagnosis is typically made through blood tests, and treatment focuses on supportive care, such as hydration and pain management. Preventive measures include mosquito control and avoiding bites through protective clothing and repellents.
