Democratic Republic of Vietnam
The Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) was established in 1945 after the end of Japanese occupation during World War II. It was led by Ho Chi Minh, who declared independence from French colonial rule. The DRV aimed to create a socialist state and was recognized by several countries, including the Soviet Union and China.
The DRV played a significant role in the Vietnam War, which lasted from the late 1950s until 1975. The conflict was primarily between the DRV and the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), supported by the United States. The war ended with the reunification of Vietnam under communist control.
