Democracy Index
The Democracy Index is a measure that evaluates the state of democracy in countries around the world. It is published annually by the Economist Intelligence Unit and assesses nations based on factors such as electoral process, civil liberties, political participation, and government functioning. Countries are scored on a scale from 0 to 10, with higher scores indicating stronger democratic practices.
The index categorizes countries into four types: full democracies, flawed democracies, hybrid regimes, and authoritarian regimes. This classification helps to highlight the varying degrees of democracy and governance across the globe, providing valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and the general public.
