Demining
Demining is the process of removing landmines and unexploded ordnance from areas where they pose a danger to people and animals. This work is crucial in post-conflict regions, where remnants of war can hinder safe living conditions and development. Deminers use various techniques, including manual detection, metal detectors, and sometimes trained animals like dogs, to locate and safely dispose of these hazardous materials.
The goal of demining is to make land safe for agriculture, housing, and infrastructure development. Organizations such as the United Nations and various non-governmental organizations work globally to support demining efforts, helping communities recover and rebuild after conflict.
