Deltoid Ligament
The Deltoid Ligament is a strong, triangular band of tissue located on the inner side of the ankle. It connects the tibia (the larger bone of the lower leg) to several bones in the foot, including the talus and calcaneus. This ligament plays a crucial role in stabilizing the ankle joint and preventing excessive movement that could lead to injuries.
Injuries to the deltoid ligament can occur due to ankle sprains or trauma, often resulting in pain and swelling. Treatment typically involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), along with physical therapy to restore strength and flexibility.
