Delta Velorum
Delta Velorum is a binary star system located in the constellation Vela, which is part of the larger Argo Navis constellation. It is approximately 100 light-years away from Earth and consists of two stars, designated Delta Velorum A and Delta Velorum B. The primary star, a bright blue-white giant, is significantly larger and more luminous than our Sun.
The two stars in the Delta Velorum system orbit each other with a period of about 40 years. The system is notable for its brightness, making it one of the more prominent stars in the night sky. Its position in the southern hemisphere allows for excellent visibility from many locations.
