Delta Opioid Receptor
The Delta Opioid Receptor (DOR) is a type of receptor in the brain that binds to specific molecules called opioids. These receptors are part of the body's pain control system and play a role in regulating mood, stress, and emotional responses. When activated, DORs can produce effects such as pain relief and feelings of well-being.
DORs are one of three main types of opioid receptors, alongside Mu Opioid Receptors and Kappa Opioid Receptors. Research into DORs is important for developing new pain medications that minimize side effects and reduce the risk of addiction associated with traditional opioids.
