Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse
The Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse is located at the entrance of the Delaware Bay, near Cape Henlopen, Delaware. Built in 1885, this lighthouse was designed to guide ships safely through the breakwater and into the bay. It stands 50 feet tall and features a distinctive red and white color scheme, making it easily recognizable.
The lighthouse is constructed of cast iron and has a unique octagonal shape. It was automated in 1973, eliminating the need for a keeper. Today, the Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse is a historic landmark and is often visited by boaters and tourists exploring the Delaware Bay.
