Deep Alexia
Deep Alexia is a type of acquired reading disorder that occurs after brain damage, particularly affecting the ability to read words. Individuals with Deep Alexia may struggle with recognizing words and often rely on context or visual cues to understand text. They may also experience difficulty with non-words, which are made-up terms that do not have meaning.
This condition is often associated with damage to the left hemisphere of the brain, especially in areas like Broca's area and Wernicke's area. People with Deep Alexia may still retain some ability to read aloud, but their comprehension and ability to recognize familiar words can be significantly impaired.
