Decebalus
Decebalus was the last king of Dacia, ruling from 87 AD until his defeat in 106 AD. He is best known for his conflicts with the Roman Empire, particularly against the emperor Trajan. Decebalus sought to protect his kingdom from Roman expansion and led several military campaigns to resist Roman domination.
His reign ended when Trajan launched a successful campaign against Dacia, culminating in the fall of the capital, Sarmizegetusa. After his defeat, Decebalus chose to take his own life rather than be captured. His legacy remains significant in Romanian history and culture, symbolizing resistance against foreign rule.
