Debate formats
Debate formats are structured ways of organizing a debate, allowing participants to present their arguments clearly and effectively. Common formats include the Lincoln-Douglas debate, which focuses on values and ethics, and the Policy debate, which centers on specific policy proposals. Each format has its own rules regarding speaking time, rebuttals, and the number of participants.
Another popular format is the Public Forum debate, which involves teams of two debating current events in a more accessible manner for the general audience. Additionally, the World Schools format combines elements of both prepared and impromptu debates, encouraging critical thinking and teamwork among participants.
