DeLorean Motor Company
The DeLorean Motor Company was founded in 1975 by John DeLorean, an American engineer and automobile executive. The company is best known for its iconic car, the DeLorean DMC-12, which featured a distinctive stainless-steel body and gull-wing doors. Production of the DMC-12 began in 1981, but the company faced financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy in 1982.
Despite its short-lived production, the DeLorean DMC-12 gained fame after appearing in the Back to the Future film trilogy, where it was used as a time machine. Today, the DeLorean Motor Company exists as a brand that produces parts and restores the original DMC-12 vehicles.
