David Dinkins
David Dinkins was an American politician who served as the 106th Mayor of New York City from 1990 to 1993. He was the first African American to hold this position, and his administration focused on issues such as crime reduction, housing, and education. Dinkins was a member of the Democratic Party and previously served as the Manhattan Borough President.
Born on July 10, 1927, in Trenton, New Jersey, Dinkins attended Howard University and later earned a law degree from Brooklyn Law School. After his tenure as mayor, he continued to be active in public service and education, teaching at Columbia University and engaging in various community initiatives until his passing on November 23, 2020.
