Davey O'Brien
Davey O'Brien was an American football player, best known for his time as a quarterback at Texas Christian University (TCU) during the early 1930s. He gained national recognition for his exceptional skills on the field, leading TCU to a national championship in 1938. O'Brien's performance earned him the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 1938, making him one of the first players to receive this honor.
After college, O'Brien played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His career was cut short due to injuries, but he left a lasting legacy in college football. In 1980, the Davey O'Brien Award was established to honor the best quarterbacks in the nation.
