Daruma Dolls
Daruma Dolls are traditional Japanese talismans that symbolize perseverance and good luck. They are typically made of papier-mâché and are hollow, round, and weighted at the bottom, allowing them to return to an upright position when tilted. The dolls are often painted red and feature a face with large, blank eyes.
These dolls are associated with Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism. When a person receives a Daruma Doll, they usually make a wish and color in one eye. Once the wish is fulfilled, they fill in the other eye as a way to show gratitude.
