Dalmatian pelican
The Dalmatian pelican is one of the largest freshwater birds, known for its impressive wingspan that can reach up to 3.5 meters. This species is characterized by its long, slender bill and distinctive shaggy plumage, which is mostly white with a slight grayish hue. They primarily inhabit lakes, rivers, and wetlands across southeastern Europe and parts of Asia.
Dalmatian pelicans are social birds, often seen in groups, especially during the breeding season. They feed mainly on fish, using their large bills to scoop up prey from the water. Their population is currently threatened due to habitat loss and pollution, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
