Dadasaheb Phalke Award
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in the field of cinema, established in 1969. It is named after Dadasaheb Phalke, who is considered the father of Indian cinema for his pioneering work in filmmaking. The award is presented annually by the Government of India to recognize lifetime contributions to Indian cinema, honoring individuals for their significant impact on the film industry.
The award consists of a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize. Recipients are selected by a committee appointed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the award is presented at the National Film Awards ceremony.
