Daco-Thracian Languages
The Daco-Thracian languages are a group of ancient languages spoken in the regions of Dacia and Thrace, which correspond to parts of modern-day Romania, Bulgaria, and surrounding areas. These languages are part of the larger Indo-European family and are believed to have been used by the Dacians and Thracians, two ancient peoples known for their rich cultures and interactions with neighboring civilizations.
Although the exact number of speakers and the full extent of these languages remain unclear, they are thought to have been largely replaced by Latin and Slavic languages over time. Limited evidence, such as inscriptions and place names, provides insight into their vocabulary and structure, but much about the Daco-Thracian languages remains a mystery to linguists today.
