Dabbawalas
The Dabbawalas are a unique lunch delivery service in Mumbai, India, known for their efficient and reliable system. They transport home-cooked meals in stainless steel containers, called tiffins, from workers' homes to their offices. This service caters primarily to the city's busy professionals, ensuring they receive fresh meals during their workday.
Operating since the late 19th century, the Dabbawalas use a color-coded coding system to sort and deliver the tiffins accurately. With a workforce of around 5,000, they manage to deliver over 200,000 meals daily, often without the use of technology, relying instead on teamwork and organization.
