DWR
DWR stands for Durable Water Repellent, a treatment applied to fabrics to make them resistant to water. This process involves coating the material with a chemical finish that causes water to bead up and roll off, rather than soaking into the fabric. DWR is commonly used in outdoor gear, such as jackets and tents, to enhance their performance in wet conditions.
While DWR helps keep fabrics dry, it is not a permanent solution. Over time, the effectiveness of the treatment can diminish due to wear, washing, and exposure to elements. To maintain its water-repellent properties, products often require reapplication of DWR treatments, which can be found in sprays or wash-in products.
