Cygnus atratus
Cygnus atratus, commonly known as the black swan, is a large waterbird native to Australia. It is easily recognized by its striking black plumage and bright red bill. Black swans are often found in freshwater lakes, rivers, and wetlands, where they feed on aquatic plants and algae.
These swans are social birds, typically seen in groups, and are known for their graceful swimming and unique courtship displays. Unlike many other swan species, Cygnus atratus is not migratory and tends to remain in its home range year-round, making it a familiar sight in its native habitat.
