Cyanogen Compounds
Cyanogen compounds are chemical substances that contain the cyanide group, which consists of a carbon atom triple-bonded to a nitrogen atom (–C≡N). These compounds can be found in various forms, including gases, liquids, and solids. They are often used in industrial applications, such as in the production of plastics, dyes, and pesticides.
One of the most well-known cyanogen compounds is cyanogen chloride, a toxic gas used in chemical synthesis and as a chemical warfare agent. Other cyanide compounds, like potassium cyanide, are used in mining and electroplating. Due to their toxicity, handling cyanogen compounds requires strict safety precautions.
