Customs Officer
A Customs Officer is a government official responsible for monitoring and regulating the flow of goods and people across international borders. Their main duties include inspecting luggage, cargo, and vehicles to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. They also collect tariffs and taxes on imported goods and prevent illegal items, such as drugs or weapons, from entering the country.
In addition to inspections, Customs Officers provide information to travelers about customs regulations and restrictions. They work closely with other agencies, such as the Border Patrol and Immigration Services, to maintain national security and facilitate legitimate trade and travel.
