Cuban Invasion
The "Cuban Invasion," also known as the Bay of Pigs Invasion, occurred in April 1961 when a group of Cuban exiles, supported by the U.S. government, attempted to overthrow the government of Fidel Castro. The plan aimed to establish a new government in Cuba that would be more aligned with U.S. interests during the Cold War.
The invasion was poorly executed and faced strong resistance from Cuban forces. Within three days, the exiles were defeated, leading to a significant embarrassment for the Kennedy administration. The failed invasion solidified Castro's power and pushed Cuba closer to the Soviet Union.
