Crockett Johnson
Crockett Johnson was an American cartoonist and children's book author, best known for creating the beloved character Harold from the book Harold and the Purple Crayon. Born on October 20, 1906, he initially worked as a commercial artist before transitioning to children's literature, where his imaginative storytelling and simple illustrations captured the hearts of young readers.
In addition to Harold and the Purple Crayon, Johnson illustrated several other children's books and contributed to comic strips, including Barnaby. His unique style and ability to engage children's imaginations have made his works enduring classics in children's literature. Johnson passed away on July 13, 1975.
