Crimean Tatars
The Crimean Tatars are a Turkic ethnic group native to the Crimean Peninsula. They have a rich cultural heritage, including unique traditions, language, and music. Historically, they were known for their nomadic lifestyle and played a significant role in the region's history, particularly during the time of the Crimean Khanate.
In the 20th century, many Crimean Tatars faced persecution, especially during World War II when they were forcibly deported by the Soviet government. Since Ukraine gained independence in 1991, the Crimean Tatars have sought to reclaim their rights and cultural identity, facing ongoing challenges, especially after the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014.
