Cremation Methods
Cremation methods primarily include traditional flame-based cremation and alternative techniques like alkaline hydrolysis and aquamation. In traditional cremation, the body is placed in a cremation chamber where high temperatures reduce it to ashes. This process typically takes one to three hours.
Alkaline hydrolysis, also known as aquamation, uses a combination of water, heat, and alkaline chemicals to break down the body. This method is considered more environmentally friendly, as it produces fewer emissions and uses less energy compared to flame-based cremation. Both methods ultimately provide families with the ashes of their loved ones for memorialization.
