Craft Unionism
Craft unionism is a type of labor organization that focuses on skilled workers within specific trades or crafts. These unions advocate for the interests of their members, such as better wages, working conditions, and job security. Members typically share a common skill set and often work in similar industries, allowing them to negotiate collectively for their rights.
Unlike industrial unionism, which includes all workers in a particular industry regardless of skill level, craft unionism emphasizes the unique skills and training of its members. This approach has historically led to the formation of unions like the American Federation of Labor (AFL), which represents various skilled trades.
