Covenant of Works
The "Covenant of Works" is a theological concept primarily found in Reformed Christianity. It refers to the agreement between God and humanity, specifically with Adam in the Garden of Eden. In this covenant, Adam was promised eternal life and blessings for obeying God's commands, particularly the command not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
When Adam disobeyed and ate the forbidden fruit, he broke the covenant, leading to the fall of humanity and the introduction of sin into the world. This event is significant in Christian theology, as it sets the stage for the need for redemption through the later Covenant of Grace established by Jesus Christ.
