Court Types
There are several types of courts in the legal system, each serving a specific purpose. Trial courts are where cases begin, and they handle both civil and criminal matters. These courts evaluate evidence, hear testimonies, and make initial rulings.
Appellate courts review decisions made by trial courts to ensure the law was applied correctly. They do not conduct new trials but instead focus on legal arguments presented by the parties involved. Additionally, there are specialized courts, such as family courts and small claims courts, which address specific types of cases.
