Counts of Namur
The Counts of Namur were rulers of the historical region of Namur in present-day Belgium. This title emerged in the 10th century and was held by various noble families, notably the House of Dampierre and the House of Luxembourg. The counts played a significant role in the political landscape of medieval Europe.
Throughout their reign, the Counts of Namur engaged in numerous conflicts and alliances, often involving neighboring territories like Brabant and Hainaut. The countship was eventually absorbed into larger political entities, notably becoming part of the Duchy of Brabant in the 14th century.
