Counties of Iran
Iran is divided into 31 administrative divisions known as provinces, which are further subdivided into counties. Each county, or shahrestan, serves as a local government unit, managing various aspects of administration, including education, health, and infrastructure.
The counties vary in size and population, with some, like Tehran County, being densely populated, while others, such as Kuhdasht County, are more rural. Each county is governed by a council and an elected mayor, ensuring local representation and governance within the broader framework of the Iranian government.
