Countess Margaret of Flanders
Countess Margaret of Flanders (c. 1202–1280) was a noblewoman from the House of Dampierre. She became the Countess of Flanders through her marriage to Baldwin IX of Flanders. Margaret played a significant role in the politics of her time, particularly during the conflicts between the French Crown and the County of Flanders.
Margaret was known for her strong leadership and diplomatic skills. After her husband's death, she took on the responsibility of governing Flanders, navigating complex alliances and rivalries.
