Count Mihály Károlyi
Count Mihály Károlyi was a Hungarian politician and a key figure in the early 20th century. Born on March 4, 1875, he played a significant role during the aftermath of World War I, advocating for democratic reforms and national independence. Károlyi became the first Prime Minister of the short-lived Hungarian Democratic Republic in 1918.
Károlyi's government faced numerous challenges, including economic instability and political opposition. His tenure ended in 1919 when he resigned amid rising tensions and the establishment of a communist regime led by Béla Kun. Károlyi later lived in exile and returned to Hungary after World War II, where he passed away on March 19, 1955.
